West End United played their third game of the season entertaining the visiting Barrabases FC in the first match-up between the clubs. Both teams started with a bit of caution settling into the match. West End enjoyed a slight advantage in ball possession and created a couple of decent opportunities, however, the first real chance of the match came in the 20th minute from Barrabases FC. A decent build up and a lobbing shot fooled West End’s keeper, Greg, who came out to cut the angle, but the ball ricocheted off of the cross bar. West End responded quickly with Glenn sending a great ball into the box for an easy tap-in by Waseem for his first goal of the match. The lead was sort lived however, as Barrabases FC responded well themselves and tied the game at one a piece with a goal from Jamie. A misplayed ball by a Barrabases defenseman allowed Glenn to sneak on the left wing and take the lead again for West End with a great left-footed finish. The second half started out well for Barrabases as they yet again tied the game early, but again West End’s response was quick and swift as Glenn found a way to get another one past the keeper for his second of the night. Glenn then continued his one-man onslaught taking a Barrabases midfielder and their two defensemen with him into the corner while managing a fantastic ball across the penalty area right into the feet of an unmarked Justin. Justin’s initial shot was cleared from the goal line by a retreating defenseman who sent the ball into the path of Ryszard who with a stone-cold finish placed the ball into the net for his first of the season. Barrabases FC got within one with a last-minute goal from their forward, Christian, who placed the ball beautifully under the crossbar
