West End United hosted the undefeated Polonia for the teams's first matchup of the season. West End came out strong and had a bit of an edge in defensive and midfield play. However, Polonia played a very good counter-attacking game and scored 3 unanswered goals in the first 20 minutes of play. Finally, Justin put West End on the scoreboard collecting a juicy re-bound for his first of the season. Polonia did add one more before the end of the first half and West End went into the dressing rooms down 4 - 1. Second half brought more of the same as West End continued to have a slight advantage over Polonia, but just could not put the ball behind Polonia's keeper who had a great game with 11 saves. Polonia continued their well executed counter-attack and added 2 more goals to their total. West End got their second goal of the night when Tom scored his first of the season with a solid effort off the post into the top corner of the net. Bartek scored West End's third goal of the match with a great show of skill as he effortlessly opened up Polonia's defense for his first of the season. Unfortunately for West End, Polonia added 2 more to their total to take the game 8 - 3. West End's loss can easily be summed up with their lack of finish as out of 14 shots on goal they only managed to get 3 pass the keeper. Despite the loss, it was a good, solid team effort with Jorge doing a great job in net in Daniel's absence.
