West End United went on the road to face first-placed Victoria for their second match-up of the season. West End that got on the board first in the 13th minute with some offensive pressure forcing a pass-back to the keeper which found its way into the back of the net. Victoria came back half-way through the first half to tie the game up at 1 each and added another goal to take the lead before the end of the half. At this point of the game, ball possession and chances on net were pretty much equal with Victoria having a slight advantage. In the second half this continued and Victoria found one more goal on a very well-placed cross which was finished in style with a first-time volley. Unfortunately for West End, shortly after Nathan was awarded a red card for talking back to the referee after an altercation with another player for which in a West End United style, he apologized for after the game to both his team mates and the referee. With 4 minutes left in the game, West End forecheck paid off when Tomasz stole Victoria’s keeper’s poor pass to his defenseman, and in tic-tac-toe play with Alberto made the keeper pay with well place ball in the far corner of the net. In the dying minutes of the game West End kept pressing but fell short of an equalizer with a couple of decent chances. Considering Victoria scored 52 times against Westend since their first meeting back in 2017 with only 4 goals in response, this was definitely a moral victory for West End. Mark did an amazing job in net filling in for Daniel and again a solid team effort
