West End United finished their round-robin playoffs round with a 5 -2 loss to Deportivo Real 45 finding themselves “dead” last in the group with no points and a plus minus of -7. Deportivo broke the deadlock early, but West End responded quickly with Tomasz’s first of the post season. Tomasz’s forecheck forced the keeper to loose control of the pass-back for an easy tap-in into the back of the net. Waseem had a glorious opportunity to get West End on event terms making a great run, splitting the defense and making the best of Tomasz’s creative through-pass, however the keeper made enough of a contact with the ball to send off of the post. Deportivo restored their one goal lead before the end of the half and West End was forced to start the second half down a goal. First 20 minutes proved to be a strong showing for West End, however Deportivo changed the momentum somewhat scoring two nice quick header goals to widen the goal differential to 3 goals. A bad defensive change on West End’s part produced a three on the keeper situation and a goal for Deportivo to which Jorge responded, “I got this, no worries. You guys push up!”. Down by 4 goals, West End did not give up and actually picked up their game in the last minutes of the match and Waseem got his revenge scoring a wonderful long-distance goal on Tomasz’s steel just outside the 16-yard line. In the dying seconds of the match, Jorge and Phu combined to make two spectacular saves to deprive Deportivo of their 6th goal of the night.
