West End United fired on all cylinders in their first away game of the season against Parkland FC. With fairly even ball possession both teams created scoring chances in the first half, but neither could break the deadlock. West End kicked up their efforts in the second half and started swaying the momentum their way which paid off in the 17th minute. Tom made the most of Alberto’s rebound and from 10 yards unleashed the ball into the bottom left corner of the net to give West End a 1 – 0 lead. Just a few minutes later Bartek took an opportunity of a misplayed ball stealing it from Parkland’s defense and despite being fouled by the keeper managed to bury it in the back of the next for his first of the season. Up by 2 goals West End kept pressing and created some very good scoring opportunities, but were unable to increase their lead. On the other end of the filed, West End’s defense made their presence known making it difficult for Parkland’s offense to establish any sort of momentum. Mark made some key saves the few times shots came his way to secure his first shutout since taking on the responsibility of protecting West End United’s goal. With a full team effort West End was able to get their first well deserved win of the season.
