West End United finished the year with a decent performance against 4th place Parkland Masters. West End created the first real scoring opportunity in the opening minutes of the match, but it was Parkland Masters who “drew the first blood” to take the lead 1 – 0. Waseem answered shortly after with his first goal of the season, but Parkland regained their lead towards the end of the half after a West End’s defensive mistake in the penalty box. Second half brought much of the same as West End kept struggling in the middle allowing Parkland to create scoring opportunities on the counter attack which they finally capitalized on midway through the half to take a 3 – 1 lead. West End kept creating scoring opportunities including Bartek’s two superb chances including one with one-on-one with Parkland’s keeper. He was quite upset about not capitalizing on these after game. In the final five minutes of the game West End increased their pressure and were awarded with a penalty kick after Tomasz was taken down in the box. Waseem’s stone-cold finish rewarded him with a second goal of the night. A somewhat disappointing loss, but West End has found a way to score and have improved defensively in the recent matches, so they hope for some success in the latter stages of the season.
