For the final game of the 2019 season against first-seated Victoria, West End conducted an experiment and shook up the line-up to try to find some offensive output.  With Mark and Cam up front, Phu taking the responsibility in net, and most of the midfielders playing in defensive positions it looked like West End had something going when Cam got the first goal of the game early in the first half.  With a bit more punch coming out of the back giving Phu, who did a fantastic job in net, some clearance options West End played a much more controlled passing game creating a few opportunities offensively to keep Victoria’s keeper busy.  With some mistakes however, they gave up some “easy” goals and found themselves down by 3 at the end of the first half.  West End continued their game plan in the second half, again creating chances and making some creative plays, but could not capitalize on some clear opportunities to close the goal gap.  With 6 – 1 towards the end of the match, Mark fought off his defensive maker and scored his first goal of the season and West End’s second of the night.  The night finished in a 7 – 2 defeat for West End, but this shakeup had a positive impact on their game with which West End plans on going in with into the playoffs.
