In their 11th game of the season West End United hosted MC United for the teams’ second match-up of the season. West End started the game very flat-footed and comment worthy plays and passes were few and far in between. However, in the 20th minute of the match Tomasz setup Oscar who made a sequence of great moves in the penalty box to beat MC’s keeper on the short side put West End on the scoreboard. The lead was very short lived as MC United equalized 5 minutes later, but this would be the only time Mark would have to dig out the ball from the back of the net as West End started to finally pick up their game. In the second half the “other” team came out to play as West End started to make some creative plays and passes and the team finally started “clicking”. Alberto found Cam who came in full stride and in typical Cam style unleashed a rocket that found nothing but the net to put West End back on top. A few minutes later it was again Alberto who fed a nice lobbing pass behind MC’s defense for Bartek who in the words of West End’s Spanish contingent made a “Sombrerito” (flick the ball above the defender) and after some awesome individual effort and multiple attempts found the back of the net. With 12 minutes left, Tomasz with a great pass through MC United’s defense found German who like a hurricane, in Cam-like-style, came in from the back line screaming for the ball which he buried in the net beating the keeper just inside the post for his first goal of the season. Mark as always made some key saves especially with West End’s 2 -1 lead to keep the momentum going. A good team effort with some individual “oomph” peppered-in to take the important 3 points in the closest division spread the league has seen in a while.
